She's a programmer and a mother, and she's also the mother of HarmonyOS. I've been using version 5.1 for quite a while now, and it definitely has many practical features for both family and work: commonly used apps like Meituan, Ctrip, and Gaode Maps are all compatible with HarmonyOS and can be logged in with a Huawei account with one click; the real-time notifications for Didi Chuxing and Taobao Tickets are particularly convenient; and Xiaoyi (the AI assistant) provides excellent connectivity. You can access ingredients and recipes from the Xiachufang app, ask questions, and more, making it more convenient and faster…

After HarmonyOS 6.0 was released, I specifically checked out the updated features and immediately upgraded after seeing the AI privacy screen. Now, after using it for a while, my overall experience is that HarmonyOS 6 has also made some minor improvements in other areas—it's faster and smoother!

When people see AI privacy screens, the first thing that comes to mind is probably colleagues or bosses. But as a mother, my first thought is "keeping my child away"—my child sometimes secretly watches me use my phone behind my back, while I'm focused on the phone itself and completely unaware.

Now it's great! I can choose which apps to set up privacy settings. That way, when my kid sneaks up behind me, a notification will pop up at the top of my phone. I can then immediately switch to work mode, making my kid realize that the phone is actually a boring tool, hahaha.

To outsmart your child, you need to upgrade your equipment in time!

"Family-based fraud prevention" is also very useful. Scammers are rampant at the end of the year, and my mom received a similar message a few days ago. It seems that nowadays, as long as the scammer knows your bank card and phone number, they'll ask for the verification code over the phone and then pay you. It really scared me. Luckily, they haven't reached the point of using AI face-swapping or AI voice recognition, otherwise it would be really difficult to prevent such scams.

After the update, I enabled the "Family Fraud Prevention" feature and added my mother's phone number to "Family Protection"—if she receives a scam call, my phone will receive an alert, allowing me to not only remotely hang up for her but also mark the scam number. This puts my mind at ease, as it's quite difficult for elderly people to operate these things.

Previously, during weekly online meetings, I needed to spend half an hour afterward organizing the minutes, often missing key requirements.

After updating to version 6.0, I discovered its built-in recording function is incredibly powerful. It can connect with Xiaoyi (AI assistant) to directly transcribe recordings into text, which taught me a valuable skill—now I turn on the recording function whenever I have an online meeting, whether it's for my child's kindergarten or a work meeting. This way, regardless of whether I listen to the meeting or not, I get a complete meeting summary afterward, and it can even generate a "structured summary," which is incredibly convenient.

For ordinary people, they can easily use the free video editing app that comes with HarmonyOS to process videos. It will automatically recognize the scene and match the music to the video, saving them the trouble of manually operating it for a long time.

A few days ago, my elders said that while we think making videos is simple, she thinks it's incredibly difficult. I told her that AI can make the process increasingly simple, and then I demonstrated how to generate a video with a single click using a video editor. She quickly mastered it and started enjoying it immensely.

Of course, it works the same way with Meitu Xiu Xiu, HarmonyOS. It's fully compatible, except that some videos generated from Meitu require a membership. HarmonyOS's built-in video and audio editing features are sufficient for most users.

HarmonyOS also has some great exclusive applications. The "Smart Medication Reminder" app is very useful. I used to always use the "Medication Assistant" app to check medications, but it's started charging now. Heaven knows how hard it is to remember what medication to take, how much to take, and whether you've taken it or not. Let alone the elderly, even I can't remember.

Now I don't have to worry anymore. With the "Smart Medication Reminder," I can add medicines by scanning the code with one click, and it will automatically recognize the medicine name. Adding a desktop card to the app will also remind me in time that "it's time to take my medicine."

By the way, HarmonyOS 6's background processes are also very persistent. You all know how frustrating it is for programmers to leave work for a short while and then come back to find their code gone. Now, when I occasionally work on my phone, if my child interrupts me, I don't have to worry about losing my code. It's still there, always there, which gives me a lot of peace of mind.

For me, the overall feeling of the HarmonyOS 6 upgrade is good: the phone's security is significantly enhanced, and it is smoother to use, which has quietly improved my work and childcare efficiency.

However, I have even greater expectations for Xiaoyi. I hope that one day Xiaoyi will become more intelligent and can manage and process all the information on my phone with just a call, without me having to operate it manually.

Is that day far off? Maybe not. After all, I can already summon Xiaoyi to do many things for me, such as opening the pages of products I've purchased in the past—I can just ask Xiaoyi to open the pages of my past purchases and then pay for the order myself.
